Anti-Government or Anti-Tyranny?

I recently posted a Thomas Jefferson quote on my Facebook page regarding the Second Amendment that started an interesting discussion. A friend of mine from Canada said in a comment on the post, that they (as Canadians) weren't awarded "those rights" and that she was trying to process the "drive behind the American passion" for guns and gun control as well as "the Constitution." She was also concerned that such strong words could be considered anti-government... Let me make my self clear... I am not, have never been, and never will be anti-government. What I am, and always will be, is anti-tyranny,

This was my reply:

The idea our American forefathers had, and rightly so, was that rights were not given by any government, but by God Himself. The flow of power is that God gives these rights to the individual, who in turn give the government the PRIVILEGE (not the right) to govern. Unfortunately our lawmakers have mistaken OUR rights for privileges. What's the difference? Rights are Given by "nature and natures God" and therefor cannot be taken. Privileges, however, are something you're ALLOWED to do and privileges may be taken away.

You may be in Canada, but God gives the same rights to everyone. It's governments that control, limit and strip us of them.

The first paragraph of the U.S. Declaration of Independence reads as follows:
"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

This tells us that the founders of our great nation did not believe that throwing off a tyrannical government was treasonous, but patriotic!

The mood has changed in the last 236 1/2 years though. We have our public school system teaching our children to chant the name of our president as if he was the savior. They are teaching them that those who participated in the Boston Tea Party were terrorist!

When it comes right down to it, it has nothing to do with guns. It has EVERYTHING to do with human rights. REAL human rights, given by God at conception.

Revelation 2:5 says:
Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

This is where the passion comes into play. We who know our history, know what a great nation this is, or at least was. But we also hold to the hope that it will be again. If not for our own sake, then for our children's.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution reads:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a FREE state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

Here are some interesting quotes from Thomas Jefferson, one of our countries greatest patriots:

"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."

"The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits."

"What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?"

"A free people [claim] their rights as derived from the laws of nature, and not as the gift of their chief magistrate."

And last but not least....

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

The honey bee is reluctant to sting. Yes he may buzz you first and try to scare you away, but stinging you is his last resort. He'll do it to protect the hive, but he also knows he will die in it's defense.

So it is with modern day American Patriots. We are reluctant to sting. Our forefathers preserved our right to keep and bear arms so that we could protect the rest of our rights. What our government has been doing for years is slowly filing down our stingers. And they won't stop until you're nothing more than a fruit fly. Unlike what you here from some in Washington, our guns are our last line of defense. Wisdom is our first.

We Remember


We were getting dressed. We were going to hear the Oklahoma City Philharmonic at the civic center in Downtown OKC. We were running a bit late, as I recall, and trying to get out the door. And as always when you’re in a hurry, the phone rang. It was my grandma (Grammie) on the other end of the phone. She had a very excited tone in her voice. She told my Mom that there had been a bomb go off downtown. “A Bomb?” said my mom….. Thinking it was probably another pipe bomb in a mailbox or a gas line rupture, but she decided to turn on the TV anyway. What we saw on that screen that day would haunt us for the rest of our lives. In no way did we expect that…. We saw our fellow Oklahomans struggling through what would prove to be the darkest day in Oklahoma history. As we looked out the picture window of our living room, we could see the dark cloud of smoke rising in the distance. This dark cloud would consume the lives of 168 people and countless friends and loved ones. I was 9 years old at the time of the Murrah building bombing…. But it seems like yesterday.

 Please continue to pray for the families of the victims. It may no longer be headline news, and the yearly memorial may only get a 30 second blip on CNN, but Oklahomans remember. The families remember.

The Two Powerful Kings

Many years ago lived a very powerful king who claimed to be the son of god. He was feared by his enemies and loved by his followers. He conquered all that stood in his way and let nothing stifle his ambition. Bloodshed, cruel treatment of enemies,concubines and homosexual tendencies were his M.O. He had set up his kingdom over the entire known Earth. He died at the age of 33 with all these accomplishments and had nothing to show for it. Many years ago lived a very powerful King who was the Son of God. He was both feared and loved.... And hated. He conquered all that stood in His way. Even if it meant conquering through His own death. He let nothing stifle His mission. Love, kindness, patience, joy, peace, understanding, sacrifice.... and bloodshed were his M.O. He came to establish His Kingdom. He left to prepare a place for us. He died at the age of 33....and if all he had to show for it was you.... He wouldn't have changed a thing. One man conquers the world with a sword, the other with three nails. One man rules through violence and commands loyalty, while the other leads through grace and commands us to love each other. Alexander the Great and Jesus Christ both lived to the age of 33. Both conquered the world... But only one conquered death. What kingdom are you fighting for? What camp are you in? Before you hunt any eggs this weekend or eat an entire bag of jelly beans in one setting... Stop. Remember what it is that makes this a special weekend. Christ loves you. He suffered for you. He died for you. Before you get caught up in the festivities of the weekend, remember to thank Him. It's the least we can do.

Obama like Hitler?

A while back, country music legend Hank Williams Jr. compared President Obama to Hitler. He later apologized for the comment.... But was he so wrong? Let's look in more detail. The similarities are terrifying, the conclusion inevitable. On March 23, 1933, the German Parliment met to consider passing a bill that Adolf Hitler had created called the Enabling Act. It was officially called the 'Law for Removing the Distress of the People and the Reich.' Why were the German people in such distress? Because their government was in utter chaos, and the German leaders wanted to reassure the people that everything would be ok. The only fly in the ointment was that the Nazis had, behind the scenes, caused the distress themselves by creating the crisis, so that they could step in and solve it. Sound familiar? America under Obama is now a democratic Republic in name only Hitler promised the German people that the government would "make use of these powers only insofar as they are essential for carrying out vitally necessary measures...The number of cases in which an internal necessity exists for having recourse to such a law is in itself a limited one." So the German congress voted on the bill, with the end result being the legal destruction of the German Democratic Republic. The bill gave Hitler enormous, unprecedented powers to do as he saw fit for the government of the German people. It was the act that offically created a legal dictator who was answerable to no one. His ObamaCare bill. now the law of the land, empowers him to create his own private army, forces citizens to abide by unconstitutional laws, and will use the IRS in much the same way that Hitler used his brown shirts to make people get in line behind his policies. Many Americans will awake to late to the fact that Obama has subverted the United States Constitution, and stolen our precious liberties and freedoms. That's why Obama's followers are encouraged and taught to follow and have faith in Obama the man, and not in our God or in our country. This is exactly the ploy that Hitler used to great and terrible effect in Nazi Germany. Rep. Dingell admits that the goal of ObamaCare is to 'control the people'. Some people would balk at the comparison between Hitler and Obama, saying it was unfair. After all, Hitler started WWII and killed 11,000,000 Jews and Gentiles in death camps, and Obama has done nothing like that. Well, it's only unfair if you compare Hitler at the end of his rule to the beginning of Obama's. But if you compare Hitler and Obama at the beginning of their rise to power, it's extremely fair. Similiarities between Adolf Hitler & Barack Hussein Obama • Both Hitler and Obama held rallies in outdoor stadiums to excite and inflame the people's passions. Frequently women would faint or break into tears. • Both Hitler and Obama wrote ghost-written autobiographies prior to the start of their run for political office. Hitler wrote Mein Kampf (My Struggle), and Obama wrote Dreams Of My Father. Both men then wrote a second book talking about their goals for German and America. Hitler wrote A New World Order, and Obama wrote The Audacity of Hope. • Both Hitler and Obama originally had last names that were changed later in life. Hitler used to be Schickelbruber, and Obama's last name was Soetoro. • Both Hitler and Obama hid their real identies. Hiter had a Jewish ancestry, and Obama a Muslim one. But unlike Hitler, Obama flaunted his Muslim roots in his start as a politician in order to defuse the inevitable firestorm. His ploy of "hiding in plain sight" worked very well. • Both Hitler and Obama's supporters followed them blindly, and without question • Both Hitler and Obama used political power and coercion to conceal and hide their birth certificates from coming to public view. Hitler made his disappear, and Obama is unwilling and unable to produce his long-form birth certificate. • Both Hitler and Obama advocate using young people as a driving force to create an "army" of youth dedicated to their Ideals. Hitler had his Hitler Youth, and Obama his Obama Youth Brigade. • Both Hitler and Obama were known for their tremendous oratorical skills • Both Hitler and Obama received Messianic comparisons, and both men had songs of adoration written about them and for them. • Like Hitler, Obama rules in direct disregard to the will and wishes of the people. • Like Hitler, Obama has an obvious distaste for the Jews, and sides with the Muslims every chance he gets. • Both Hitler and Obama were able to mezmerize the people even when it was obvious that what they were saying was not true. • Both Hitler and Obama used domestic terrorists to launch their careers. Hitler had his Brown Shirts from his beer hall days, and Obama had people like Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Rashid Khalidi. • Like Hitler, Obama advocates using murder as a means of population control.

I.  Who were the Progressives, and why are they important? 

Many on the left today call themselves “progressive,” and they do so not just because it’s a nicer way of saying “liberal,” but also because they very much intend to revive the political principles of America’s original Progressives, from the Progressive Era of the 1880s through World War I.  Why would leftist politicians, like Mrs. Clinton, purposely identify themselves with this Progressive movement?  The reason is that America’s original Progressives were also its original, big-government liberals.  Most people point to the New Deal era as the source of big government and the welfare state that we have today.  While this is perfectly accurate, it is important to understand that the principles of the New Deal did not originate in the New Deal; rather, they came from the Progressives, who had dominated American politics and intellectual cultural a generation prior to the New Deal.  We have no less an authority on this connection than Franklin Roosevelt himself.  When FDR campaigned in 1932, he pointed to the Progressives – and in particular to Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson – as the source of his ideas about government.    In terms of the personalities who made up the Progressive movement, some are familiar to us and others are less so.  The movement was comprised of well known politicians like Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt; but it was also comprised of intellectuals and writers who are less well known but who have been very influential in America.  There were folks like John Dewey, who was America’s public philosopher for much of the early 20th century.  Even less well known was Herbert Croly, but Croly was highly influential, since he founded and was the first editor of The New Republic – which became the main organ of Progressive opinion in the United States, and is still one of the most important journals on the Left today.  I should add here that Woodrow Wilson actually fell into both of these categories – he was both a well known politician and president, but also was, for decades prior to his entry into politics, a prominent intellectual (a college professor and president of Princeton) who wrote many books and influential articles.  As I’ll explain in my next piece, these Progressives wanted a thorough transformation in America’s principles of government, from a government permanently dedicated to securing individual liberty to one whose ends and scope would change to take on any and all social and economic ills.  Here’s the order of the points we’ll consider in the pieces to follow:  1) What did Progressives think about the American founding, and why did they want to eradicate its principles?  2) How did we get today’s excessively powerful presidency from the Progressives?  3) What was the connection between Progressivism and Socialism?  Were the Progressives actually Socialists?  4) What are some of the critical connections between Progressivism and what’s going on in our country today?  For more on the Progressives, two of my books may be of interest:  1) American Progressivism, which I co-edited with American historian William Atto, contains a basic introduction to progressive ideas written by Professor Atto and me, and then several selections from the actual writings of Progressives like Wilson, TR, Dewey, Croly, and others. 2) Woodrow Wilson and the Roots of Modern Liberalism, which is a much more in-depth look at Woodrow Wilson and how he was central to originating the liberalism that dominates America today.  This is for those who are really interested in history and political theory. OF THE ORIGIN AND DESIGN OF GOVERNMENT IN GENERAL WITH CONCISE REMARKS ON THE ENGLISH CONSTITUTION (excerpt from Thomas Paine's Common Sense) Part 1

"SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher. Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamities is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer! Government, like dress, is the badge of lost innocence; the palaces of kings are built on the ruins of the bowers of paradise. For were the impulses of conscience clear, uniform, and irresistibly obeyed, man would need no other lawgiver; but that not being the case, he finds it necessary to surrender up a part of his property to furnish means for the protection of the rest; and this he is induced to do by the same prudence which in every other case advises him out of two evils to choose the least. Wherefore, security being the true design and end of government, it unanswerably follows that whatever form thereof appears most likely to ensure it to us, with the least expense and greatest benefit, is preferable to all others."

Madison Blaxton's Common Sense

Inspired by both love of country instilled in me at a young age by my parents, and my Mom who has her own successful blog (stuffitellmysister.me or on Facebook at Stuff I Tell My Sister), I have decided to start this blog.

On January 10, 1776, a pamphlet was published in the American colonies that would forever change the course of history. The pamphlet? Common Sense. The author? Thomas Paine. Below are the exact words Thomas Paine wrote in his Introduction to Common Sense.

PERHAPS the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not yet sufficiently fashionable to procure them general favor; a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. But tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason.

As a long and violent abuse of power is generally the means of calling the right of it in question, (and in matters too which might never have been thought of, had not the sufferers been aggravated into the inquiry,) and as the king of England hath undertaken in his own right, to support the parliament in what he calls theirs, and as the good people of this country are grievously oppressed by the combination, they have an undoubted privilege to inquire into the pretensions of both, and equally to reject the usurpations of either.

In the following sheets, the author hath studiously avoided everything which is personal among ourselves. Compliments as well as censure to individuals make no part thereof. The wise and the worthy need not the triumph of a pamphlet; and those whose sentiments are injudicious or unfriendly, will cease of themselves, unless too much pains is bestowed upon their conversion.

This is the most important time of our lives. It may be the most important time in our history. Please, I beg of you, don't take my words as truth. Don't take ANYONE'S words as truth! Politicians, media and bloggers alike, no matter their ideological affiliation, have an agenda. Do your own research and find the truth for yourself. The difference you'll find on my blog is that you already know where I stand. There IS an agenda, but it's not a hidden one.

It is time we return to our founding principles. It is time we return to America to her people. It is time that we return to Common Sense.
